Day 1: On Set Behind the Scenes

Youth-Guided Film to Combat the Fentanyl Overdose Epidemic

Across the nation, Fentanyl is claiming an average of 22 young lives each week. Broward County is now ranked #3 in Florida for Fentanyl-related deaths, and Whoamentoring Works, Inc. is taking action.

Through Laced: When the Music Stops, our youth-guided performing arts initiative uses the power of film to educate, empower, and save lives.
Filmed across Broward County, this student-driven project sparks vital conversations about prevention, choices, and hope.

Our Film’s Purpose

To empower young people through mentoring, life skills, and performing arts, helping them lead with purpose, make positive choices, and raise awareness about real-world challenges like the fentanyl crisis.

Curriculum & Impact

  • Our cast participates in a custom-designed curriculum that builds mental health awareness, communication, and leadership.
  • Each student is pre-assessed, trained, and post-assessed to measure growth and ensure the program meets the needs of youth and families.
